Returning to play after the holidays is always a challenge, and it proved to be the case for the Phillies today, as they fell to the Blue Jays, 10-1.

There were not many ESPN highlights in this game, but defensive highlights included Dorian Kemp (short stop) for the Blue Jays and Oliver Euteneuer (first base) for the Phillies. phillies 1

Dorian managed a terrific double play in the 5th inning for the Jays, tagging second base then throwing onto first for the second out. Early in the game, he also caught a pop fly at short stop and fired to first base, catching the runner there out of position.

Oliver and Tavis Simms hooked up for several outs on good defensive plays in the short stop to first base combination. Oliver made several individual plays at first by scooping up ground balls and tagging first base for the out. phillies 2

The Phillies did not show the sharpness at the plate that they had in previous games, and scored only one run all game. Phillies hitters struggled to get the ball past the infield and suffered several 3-and-out innings, while leaving players on base in the others. Aidan Adams was the only bright spot in the Phillies lineup today, going 2 for 4 with a single and a double.

While Aidan normally plays the catcher position, he performed well at the Pitcher when switched with Andres Arenas, who seems well-suited to the catcher position. phillies 3

The Blue Jays scored 2 runs in the first inning, 6 in the second, and 2 in the 5th. The Phillies scored their only run in the 3rd inning.
